Torquay Beachside Markets are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month on the Esplanade at Torquay. They are located on the beachside opposite the Torquay Post Office. Whether you are a local or a visitor to beautiful Hervey Bay, a visit to the Torquay Beachside Markets should be on your to do list. This popular and busy market is located on a tranquil paved area of the foreshore. There are plenty of stalls offering top quality, wonderful and unique products. After visiting the markets why not browse the local shops, have a coffee or a meal or even a beer at the local. Have a stroll on the beach and a swim. You could even hire a jet ski or a catamaran.

Hervey Bay Arts Council proudly presents Sunday in the Park on the first Sunday of each month at Scarness Park, from 11am for food and 12 noon for music, with arts and craft stallholders, music by fantastic bands and a sausage sizzle by various community organisations. Not for Profit groups can register to hold a BBQ fundraiser to assist their group by phoning Karen on 4197 4660 at Bay Connect weekdays 9am – 3pm.

Situated on the amazing Fraser Coast, Hervey Bay is a bustling coastal town bordered by pristine sandy beaches and calm waters.The gateway to World Heritage listed Fraser Island and the Great Barrier Reef’s Lady Elliot Island, Hervey Bay is also known as the ‘Whale Watching Capital of Australia’. Between July and November, the mighty Humpback Whales arrive on their annual migration, with Hervey Bay’s protected waters becoming their playground.

Hervey Bay offers an abundance of water based activities with the beach being ideal for swimming, sailing, fishing, diving, sea kayaking and water skiing. There is also a wide variety of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests. Please see below for a range of activities to enjoy throughout your holiday.

Free Things to do in Hervey Bay

  • Visit the brand new Wetside Water Education Park
  • Take a stroll or bike ride along the Esplanade (approx. 18 kms)
  • Feed the lorikeets at the Botanical Gardens
  • Visit Hervey Bay Regional Art Gallery at Pialba
  • Visit Australia’s First Immigration and Family Wall of Honour
  • Visit the Hervey Bay markets, held every Sunday
  • Take a scenic drive to Toogoom or Burrum Heads
  • Fish off one of the small jetties along the Esplanade or walk out to the end of the long jetty (approx. 1 km)
  • Feed the local pelicans
